MY STORY

Fourteen years ago, I began my journey as a single mom, navigating pregnancy and motherhood without a partner. It was a challenging
time, and I often felt uncertain and overwhelmed about the process of birth and what to expect. I was a newly graduated nurse, still figuring things out myself, and I didn’t have the support of a doula or anyone to guide me through this new experience. Thankfully, my family—especially my mom—was there to support me every step of the way, but I often wished I had more information and confidence.
Fast forward to this year, and I feel blessed to have welcomed another baby boy, now as a married woman. With this pregnancy, I was much more aware of what I wanted and needed for myself and my baby. I realized just how crucial it is to be well-informed, to understand your options, and to know that it is entirely possible to have a self-determined and empowering birth experience, without constantly feeling unsure or afraid.

Beyond the essential roles of doctors and midwives, I discovered the importance of having a doula—a support person who provides both physical and emotional encouragement throughout pregnancy and birth. This understanding led me to become a doula myself. I believe deeply in the positive impact a doula can have, helping expectant mothers not only physically, but also emotionally, by giving them the knowledge, encouragement, and support they need for a positive birthing experience.

My goal is to be the support I wish I had during my first pregnancy, ensuring that every mother feels empowered, informed, and confident on her journey to motherhood.
